What to Do About Inverted Nipples

on Friday, November 30, 2012

For those who have inverted nipples, it may seem frustrating to know what to do about the condition. It can be embarrassing. However, about ten to twenty percent of all women have this condition, making it far more common than you may think. There is no health risk to having this condition. Many people, though, do not like the way it looks and want to improve the appearance if possible. In some situations, this condition can also make breastfeeding very difficult. There is help available, though. One of the best professionals to talk to about it is a plastic surgeon.

What Are Your Options?

One of the options available for those with inverted nipples is the use of coaxing methods. This method may include using rolling, stimulation, ice or even a plastic shell can offer some immediate and temporary help for you in this situation. If you are trying to breastfeed and this is a problem for you, these temporary options may be all you need to get back on track. In other cases, that is not enough of the transformation you may be looking for.

A permanent solution is available. This is when talking to your plastic surgeon comes into place. The good news is this procedure is usually very fast and is minimally invasive. In some cases, it takes just 20 minutes to correct the problem for good. An incision is made in the office of your plastic surgeon. You'll be under a local anesthesia to reduce any discomfort you feel. Then, the surgeon will release the constricting bands that are holding the nipple in this position. In doing this, it will correct the problem.

In addition to having this done, some women may also benefit from having other breast surgeries. For example, if you want to augment the size of your breasts, you can have this procedure done along with that one. It is also a common option in a breast lift procedure. You can enhance and virtually change the look of your body significantly with this procedure. Most importantly, you can feel good about your body again. Talk to a plastic surgeon to find out if you could benefit from any additional types of treatment in addition to the nipple inversion.

Inverted nipples are not something to worry about. There are both permanent and temporary fixes that can help you to handle the problem. The key is to find a doctor that specializes in this treatment. You will find many that handle breast augmentations, lifts, or reductions also offer this type of procedure. It may be just what you need to improve the way you look but also to make breastfeeding easier to do.

For this problem, I went for a inverted nipple correction procedure by Dr. Jerome Edelstein. I wanted to have normal nipples and only a procedure was helpful. I'm satisfied with my results. YAY! :D
